March MadnessBonjour chers parents!
We are half way through March already! How time flies! (We are not sure how we have gone so long without posting a newsletter, we are very sorry about this!) As we begin our March Break with an unanticipated Storm Day, we would like to encourage you to check out the French Language websites that are posted in "French Language Arts" in lieu of levelled readers being sent home for the break. Your children have been working hard at making connections with their books on a daily basis - whether this is through discussing what they have read with a friend or writing in their reading journals. Here are a few sample questions they have been answering daily: Dans mon livre, je vois (In my book, I see; they will describe the setting of the book, the weather, the characters' homes, etc.) Dans mon livre, le personnage principal s'appelle... Il/Elle a... (In my book, the main character is called... They have/They are... ; they will describe the main character's physical characteristics, personality, etc.) Ma partie préférée dans mon livre est... (My favourite part in this book is...) L'événement principal dans mon livre... (The main action in my book is...; they will describe conflicts and main plot points in their book). Due to the Storm Day, many of you do not have levelled readers at home - I have included some websites where levelled readers and chapter books are available for free download/viewing. French Levelled Readers: https://www.readinga-z.com/translations/french/leveled-books/ These books are levelled in letters rather than in numbers. Generally speaking, A is level 1-2, B is 3-4, C is 5-6, etc. If you have any questions regarding your child's reading level, please do not hesitate to e-mail me over the break! French Picture Books: http://www.childrensbooksforever.com/childrenpages/French.html If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact either Mme Laura at [email protected] or Mme Durand at [email protected]
